Hits and Misses

We're doing ok so far....

Hit 1 - Brad and Jennifer split. (Not good for them but well picked by Jill)

Hit 2 - The Observer had a feature on St Tropez and fashion (Good for me)

Hit 3 - Jude Law as leading man. Well done all of us. The Observer's weekly in / out column listed poor Jude as Out!

Hit 4 - Gogo girl boots! www.vegetarianshoes.co.uk has a pair called Ashley for sale!

Hit 5 - Men's floral shirts - almost. Someone left a copy of GQ on the tube (which I read, but left - GQ should be out as well - talk about dull!) and what did it feature? Sort of floral shirts. They were more brightly patterned than floral, but we've still got 10 months to go.

Hit 6 - Quinoa. Westminster University is involved in some quinoa food research centre. They have just released quinoa burgers!

Hit 7 - Franz Ferdinand. Ok so they're still doing well - but also got a damning write up as being too mainstream to keep traveling on the indie pop band ticket.

Any other observations?

colours/colors for 2005

Yes, somebody else has had the same idea as us - gasp - it's true, Adam Polselli is forecasting colour for 2005. And avocado isn't in the line up. In fact there is very little green at all. However, this is a very lovely explanation of what one bloke reckons is going to be IN in colour this year: Adam Polselli's 2005 Color Forecast

Even though I'd hate to be wearing most of his choice of colours, it's a very, very cool webpage.

A small change

I had to change my list, in case anyone noticed. I put small patterned wine glasses as out! This has been an 'in' prediction for some time, but I got all confused after seeing some advertised in The Observer. Thinking about it, both small patterned wine glasses and The Observer can be in for 2005. Also in is blogger being compatible with Safari - so I can add links!

Matthew: Sydney

IN: Nuts About Chocolate (yummo); That new Helga's bread with Sunflower seeds in it (yummo); More independent American films that take risks and make $$$; Pomegranites; Quail eggs; David Gullpilil (he's been nominated by the NT for Australian of the Year - imagine if Fingerbone Bill won!); Flickr.com; Walking instead of taking the bus; Reading books of essays by great writers; Currawongs - especially the clever ones who know how to steal dog food right out of their bowls.
OUT: The Australian film industry, at least until it gets it's act together; Tropfest (It was lovely when it was small, but now it celebrates too much mediocrity - and there's no point in Australian film-makers perfecting getting one idea across in 5 minutes if they're incapable of telling a compelling story in a feature film); Jude Law as a Hollywood leading man; The following should go without saying: Starbucks; Delta Goodrem; any reality tv involving real estate or plastic surgery.
